Which country has developed most dog breeds?
The strongest answer is Great Britain — especially when “developed” means breeds shaped, named and standardized through a long working relationship with local landscapes and jobs.
Why Britain keeps appearing at the top of the map
Britain’s record is less about one “best” dog and more about specialization. Herding on open borders, vermin control, shooting, retrieving and estate work each produced a different brief — and, over time, a different breed.
